It rained and rained the other day, so Mom and I wore raincoats to keep us dry.
We went to a lot of places: the grocery store, the frame shop, the bank, the gas station, and the post office. Our raincoats were drenched with water, but the only moisture on us came from our bodies, not from the rain!
When we came home, Mom and I noticed that one sleeve of her coat had gotten dirty. When Mom tried to wash it off, nothing happened! No amount of soap or water could get into the fabric to get the dirt out because it was so waterproof. Everything just beaded up and rolled off!
It reminded me of the way some people are.
Some people are Love-Proof
There isn’t anything you can say or do to get past the Love-Proof fabric they wear.
That’s why they feel unloved. It’s not that people don’t want to love them. It’s just that when people try to love them, it rolls off so none of it gets in!
It seems to me that the only hope for Love-Proof people is for them to be loved from the inside out instead of from the outside in. Only God can do that! Just like the moisture came out of our bodies rather than in from the weather when we had our raincoats on, God’s love can reach people from the inside when nothing outside can.
That’s how God works.
He works on us from the inside.
So pray for Love-Proof people when you meet them that they would take their coats off.
