Painting For Ukraine:  “Journey”

My painting for Ukraine is on its way to an orphanage…

A few weeks ago I painted this picture for Ukraine:

Three kids, an older girl, a younger girl, and an even younger boy, walking up a mountain path on stone steps with a cliff on the right. The painting is for the Ukraine by 14-year-old Jordan A. CookAt the time I painted it, I didn’t know it would end up at a Ukrainian orphanage, or that a man who had been abandoned by his father at Christmas time at age 7 would be helping deliver it near Christmas.

Last night, mom received a text message regarding the painting.  It said, “Let Jordan know I spoke with the man going to Ukraine.  He said that the place they are going is tucked away in the mountains away from any water.  It is very rough terrain, mountainous, and has cliffs on the other side…it’s a camp where orphans and many others come to.  There is no building or established center.”

The reason our friend mentioned that there was no water is that I originally painted the sea into the upper right-hand corner of the painting, but felt led to take it out by painting over it.

Here is the word I gave with the painting:

“There is a remnant in Ukraine that is stable in times of upheaval.  Their faith is immoveable, their hearts steadfast.  They do not ask for blessing, but for change.  They invite God to move, and He is asking of them the same.  Ukrainian remnant, there is coming a migration from one place to another:  an Exodus and rearranging.  The pull is beginning.  Move as Abraham moved.  Be fiery.”

This painting is about the remnant in Ukraine.  Their walk is steadfast as they journey on the path set before them.  The steps they set foot on are solid rock, and their way is clear.  They have no need to carry their own provisions.  Their climb is easy and gradual because of their faith, but they walk between a rock wall and a cliff.  (Stay on the path!  Don’t wander!)  The kids in the painting represent the nature of the remnant’s faith:  child-like and trusting.  This generation will lead during “The Rearranging”.

It will be exciting to see what happens next!

I will post updates on the painting for Ukraine as soon as I know more.
