Wind. Snow. Fire: Elements converge with YHVH's Presence.

Clouds, Fire, Snow Converging On Mount Sinai

Sinai means “Thorn”, not only for the thorns that grow there, but also because thorns symbolize the duality of man’s will when it comes to God. In Genesis, God put before people “blessings and curses.” He told them that they could choose which they would have. He called Heaven and Earth to be His witnesses and made a covenant with the people. Moses came down from the mountain with a shining face from being in the presence of God and the people were afraid.

Jordan A. Cook painting Convergence at the kitchen table.

The ship was making her way steadily through small waves which slapped her and then fizzled like effervescing water, leaving a little border of bubbles and foam on either side. The colourless October sky above was thinly clouded as if by the trail of wood-fire smoke, and the air was wonderfully salt and brisk. Indeed it was too cold to stand still. Mrs. Ambrose drew her arm within her husband’s, and as they moved off it could be seen from the way in which her sloping cheek turned up to his that she had something private to communicate.

More placeholder text here. What shall I say? What now? I should talk about treasures in the snow. Or maybe about the movement of snow looking like cascading water. Though it is a mountaintop, it also looks like a rocky beach.

Shall we talk about covenant or about how the earth responds to things spiritual. The rocks cry out, the earth shakes, etc. Elijah heard the still small voice in the midst of the elements. This does not mean that God is always outside of them. He was a pillar of fire at night.

This painting shows how all things work together to accomplish God’s purposes. We get to see a picture of God in the elements He made.
